How to Order

Listed below are four different methods to order our products:

  1. Web
    This is the easiest way, since you are already on the site. Simply find the product you'd like to order, add it to the shopping cart and follow the prompts.
     
  2. Phone
    If you are calling from the United States, call us toll-free at 1-800-342-0454. International customers, please call us at 1-410-494-4994. Our customer service representatives would be happy to assist you Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. ET. They will help take your order and assist you in any way. Please have your credit card or P.O. number handy.

  3. Fax
    You can send a fax to 1-410-494-0515. Please send your fax to the attention of customer service.

  4. Mail

  5. International Orders
    Product can be purchased all over the world from this site or from Eurospan. Please consider placing your order with this distributor if you live outside the United States and Canada. Discounts and special offers appearing on this website are not honored by Eurospan.

    International customers: Payment by wire transfer must include all transaction and exchange fees, including those charged by the customer’s own financial institution and any intermediary financial institution employed by the customer’s original bank to complete the transfer. The funds deposited into our account must pay the invoice in full.

Security Guarantee

We care about our customers. That means anytime you place an order on our website (or by any other means), we guarantee that what you are sending us is safe.

Internet-standard SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) protocol is used from end to end by the server that hosts our shopping cart. They encrypt the transmission of all credit card and personal customer information. When you're on a secure page, the address bar displays a lock, and the URL starts with "https".

Data Trace uses a private, one-of-a-kind key to decode all encrypted information. During this encryption process, the information that you are sending us is scrambled into small bits of code. These bits can not be understood or read until we unscramble them.

Payment Options

There are four means of payment that we accept here at Data Trace.

  1. Credit Cards
    Data Trace accepts American Express, Visa, Mastercard, and Discover.

  2. Purchase Orders (PO's)
    • The PO can be attached to a mailed or faxed order form, or included in an online order or telephone order.
    • If you order with a PO number online, make sure to enter the name of your institution in the appropriate blank on the form. Please do not send an additional or duplicate copy by fax or mail.
  3. Checks and Money Orders
    • For online orders, we can not accept checks or money orders.
    • Please make all checks and money orders payable to Data Trace Publishing Co.
    • All checks must be drawn on a U.S. bank and payment must always be in U.S. dollars.
    • Please remember to add the appropriate shipping and handling costs to your order.
    • All Maryland orders must add 6% sales tax. 

Sales Tax

All orders placed by residents in the state of Maryland must be charged Maryland sales tax. This is required by Maryland State Law. Similar requirements are in place for the states of California and New York. (Shipping and handling charges are not taxed).

If you have a tax exemption number and you are located in one of the above states, please give that number when you place your order.

Shipping Options

Please indicate whether your delivery address is residential or commercial when you place your order. This way, our warehouse and UPS will be sure to handle everything correctly. Unfortunately, we cannot deliver to post office boxes, so make sure a complete street address is filled out. If there is not a street address, products will be shipped via USPS and delivery times will vary.

Continental U.S.

Standard shipping (UPS Ground) delivery time is 3-4 business days processing and shipping time. Shipping time depends based on where the order is going. An order shipped from our warehouse may take up to six business days depending on final destination. East Coast and Mid-Atlantic deliveries may arrive sooner.

Shipping and handling charges are different with each product. Please see your Shopping Card for quotes.

Rush shipping receives priority processing: Orders placed by 2 p.m. EST during the business week will be processed right away, and rush orders received after that time will be processed by 10 a.m. EST the following business day. The time of shipping depends on which rush method you choose. Please call us for rates.

Please note: If you order titles that have different availability dates (i.e., one or more of the titles you ordered is backordered, we will ship each backordered title by standard shipping when it becomes available.

Pre-Orders

A backorder or pre-order is an order that is placed while a book is still in press or while a book is being reprinted. If an order for a book in press is placed, you may not receive the book for several months. (You can check the availability date of a book by finding its page in the online store.)

If you have chosen to pay for the book by a credit card or with a purchase order, your account will not be charged until the book is shipped. However, what if the price of the book goes up?

Do not worry about it: All titles you order will be billed at the earlier price at the time your order is received by us. That means that if the price of a book in press goes up after you've already ordered it, you'll still be billed at the lower price. That is our guarantee.

Return Policy - for Hardcopy Books and Videos Risk-Free Ordering

We want you to be 100% satisfied with your order. Therefore we offer you a 30-day trial period for books and videos, unless otherwise noted.

At any time during those 30 days, you may return the book(s) or video(s) for a full refund or credit of the purchase price, minus the shipping and handling costs.

Return Policy for eBooks and Downloadable Products

All sales of eBooks and other downloadable products are final, due to the non-refundable format of these products.

Follow these easy instructions to return a purchase:

  1. Make sure the item is in a condition where it can be resealed.  We cannot refund or credit returned books or videos that are marked or damaged. Please rewind all videos.
  2. Please enclose a copy of your invoice.  Please include a copy of the original invoice (or the invoice number and invoice date) with the returned book or video. This way, we can issue the proper credit or refund.
  3. Ship the package to our returns department.  To guarantee delivery, please insure your package or ship it by UPS. Returns must be sent postage-paid to:

Defective Books or Videos

Defective books or videos may be sent back for replacement or full credit. They must be reported and returned within 30 days (15 days for videos) of the invoice date. To report a defective book or video to our Customer Service Department, call 1-800-342-0454, fax 1-410-494-0515, or e-mail customerservice@datatrace.org.

Returns from Booksellers

Booksellers must request permission to return books. Requests must be made in writing and faxed to 410-494-0515 or you can send it to:

  1. Returns for full credit must be requested within six months of the original invoice date.  Partial credit will be issued for books returned six months or more after the invoice date. Any returns received after one year of the invoice date will not be accepted. Defective books must be reported and/or returned within 30 days of the invoice date.
  2. All books returned for credit must be sent postage-paid to our warehouse (see the returns address listed above). A packing list, copy of the original invoice, and written authorization must be enclosed. Full credit will not be issued for books returned in damaged or used condition, for books with price markings, or for books removed from original shrink wrapping. We destroy damaged books in our warehouse and they are not available for pick-up.
  3. Booksellers and distributors may not return videos.
  4. Returns of superseded editions will be accepted for only a period of six months from the publication date of a new edition or until the date that a title you have ordered is declared out of print.  Follow the above instructions for returning an item.

Exam and Review Copies

How to Submit a Request

Complimentary examination copies of textbooks under consideration for course adoption are available to college and university faculty members. Please limit your selection to two books that are relevant to your course needs.

All requested information must be supplied before we can process your order. We cannot provide examination copies of videos or CD-ROM. Unless otherwise indicated, these items are covered under our risk-free, money-back guarantee.

You can request an exam copy by doing one of the following:

  7. Likelihood of adopting the text and decision date; and
  8. Bookstore with which the order will be placed (if book is adopted).
