Onychomycosis

John M. Ambrosia, MD, Knoxville , TN

Onychomycosis, or fungal infection of the nail plate, is a frequently encountered malady of the hand. The most common complaint is the cosmetic deformity that accompanies the condition, with significant pain and dysfunction being relatively uncommon. An interesting and unusual pattern is presented in identical twins manifested by unilateral and bilateral foot involvement.
