Data Trace Media, an Affiliate of Data Trace Publishing Company, and the Smithsonian Institution Agree to Publish a Unique Series of Books on Subjects of Historical Significance Based on Newspapers of the Time

This collaborative effort marks the beginning of at least a five-year relationship between the world-renowned Smithsonian Institution and Data Trace Media to publish an unprecedented series of books that will document the evolution of subjects of unique historical significance through reprints of Newspapers of the Time.

BALTIMORE, MD-October 8, 2003-- Data Trace Media, Inc., an affiliate of Data Trace Publishing Company, a leading legal, medical and scientific publisher, and the Smithsonian Institution announced today a collaborative effort to publish a series of books documenting the evolution of subjects of unique historical significance through reprints of historical Newspapers of the Time. The books will be comprised of reprints of banner headline newspapers and other news forms dating from the 16th century to the present time and will cover the evolution of significant events in world history, including: Flight and Space Travel, War, the Presidents, the Development of the West, the History of Golf, Boxing, Baseball and the World Series, the Baby Boomer Generation, Hollywood and Stars of Stage and Screen and Rock and Roll. Publications in the series will also focus on themes relating to Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum, National Museum of American History, the Behring Center, and National Museum of Natural History.

To create this groundbreaking series, Dr. Stephen A. Goldman and Mr. Eric C. Caren will select original works from their renowned private holdings (the Caren Archive, Inc. and OldNews, Inc.) of original historical newspapers, magazines, broadsides, and printed and manuscript Americana. Their unique archives cover the entire scope of world history from the 1500's to the present day, and these rare, foreign and domestic newspapers and news forms will be used to create the series. Each book will serve as an historically accurate chronicle of its subject matter and will feature both text and original historical images.

The first installment in the series is scheduled to be released in 2004 and will be followed by subsequent releases during the term of the project.

Washington, under the name of the Smithsonian Institution, an establishment for the increase and diffusion of knowledge among men." After receiving the property and accepting the trust, Congress vested responsibility for administering the trust in the Smithsonian Board of Regents.
