The book, written exclusively for practitioners
in Washington, is to be published in March.
Baltimore M.D.- March 3, 2003. Attorneys, John
S. Kaplan, Alan D. Smith, and Stacey Ravetta have collectively
authored a book entitled Washington Secured Transactions
Under Revised Article 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code: Forms
and Practice Manual. The work, pertaining to
the new rules associated with the revised article, is set
to publish in March of 2003 and will be available through
Data Trace Publishing Company.
Through extensive commentaries Washington Secured
Transactions Under Revised Article 9 of the Uniform Commercial
Code Forms and Practice Manual addresses the
newly instituted regulations in a concise, clear manner. A
comprehensive collection of the forms needed to understand
and practice law under Revised Article 9 is included on a
companion computer disk. The work is intended to familiarize
Washington practitioners and lenders with the changes that
affect secured transactions in Washington. The book, which
can serve as a desktop reference, will be updated annually
in order to ensure that the most up-to-date material is included.

Authors John S. Kaplan and Alan D. Smith
are partners in the Commercial Transactions Group of Perkins
Coie LLP. They focus on the representation of secured and unsecured
creditors, landlords, and debtors in commercial bankruptcy cases,
and secured creditors and borrowers in debt transactions. Mr.
Smith is a frequent lecturer and panel participant on commercial
law and bankruptcy topics. Stacey Ravetta is an associate with
the firm and practices in commercial law and bankruptcy areas.
